Despite remembering being alarmed by the beginning of Dark Side of the Moon at the age of 10, Steve survived growing up in the prog-rock era and completed his education with nothing but a massive record collection and the three chords necessary for playing blues guitar. Many years, many albums, many gigs and several guitars later Steve (now Slim Steve) is still seeking enlightenment and survives only on the music he plays. With an in-depth knowledge of rock, roots, Americana and Blues if you need a tune, and you can find him, his mission is to share the love that this music brings.

A Few More Myles On The Clock is my weekly radio show where I like to play songs not often played on the radio and by artists equally not played. I collect vintage vinyl each week and choose an album that is at least 50 years old as my featured album of the week. I like to be analogue in this digital world, so play most songs from vinyl and cassette Watch out I may well say something amazing at any point. I enjoy researching and sharing wonderful facts about artists and their songs.

I play music sent by local singers and bands. I’ve a varied selection of local music to play each week, hopefully appealing to a range of listeners, who then go along to support live performances. I have local singers or bands in the studio with me who chat about their music, play acoustic songs live and choose tracks that are special to them. It’s interesting to hear how people became involved in making music, a great opportunity to really get to know them and their music, and a chance for the singers to really promote themselves. I give information about local music events coming up and list a range of genre, venues and prices so there should be ‘something for everyone’. If you would like to have your music played on the show, be a guest or have a shout-out for your music event then please do get in touch.

Chris Johnson started listening to Beat Route Radio in April 2021 following a recommendation from a work colleague who ‘had a friend on the radio’. Before too long Chris was making guest appearances on Kully’s MadSpanner shows followed by the offer of her own Saturday show covering the 1970’s & 1980’s. Having a musically orientated family, Chris grew up with fond memories of house parties playing many music genres from Rock n Roll, Motown, Funk, Reggae, Ska, Rock through to more recent releases with a bit of Pop thrown in. Chris’s philosophy is that there is never a mood that music cannot represent, so let’s get the party started.

Dave Francis began in Community radio over 10 years ago. He presents the Jazz Funk & Soul Show on a Saturday night between 10 and midnight. Dave got into this genre after sneaking records out of his older Brothers record collection and playing them while he was out. Dave remembers being “Totally blown away” by what he heard and has been a fan ever since. Dave really likes Brit Funk, a British variation on Jazz Funk. “It’s a lot rawer than, and not as polished as its American Cousin. His favourite artists, include Hi Tension, Light of the World, Incognito and Level 42.
