Chris Johnson started listening to Beat Route Radio in April 2021 following a recommendation from a work colleague who ‘had a friend on the radio’. Before too long Chris was making guest appearances on Kully’s MadSpanner shows followed by the offer of her own Saturday show covering the 1970’s & 1980’s. Having a musically orientated family, Chris grew up with fond memories of house parties playing many music genres from Rock n Roll, Motown, Funk, Reggae, Ska, Rock through to more recent releases with a bit of Pop thrown in. Chris’s philosophy is that there is never a mood that music cannot represent, so let’s get the party started.

Having recently retired from the railway I took up the opportunity to join Beat Route Radio. I have my own show which is called AJs Golden Ray’s which is on Saturdays from 2pm to 5pm. This is a request show with music being played from all eras because I just love playing music especially for YOU

Whether you were furiously fixing your cassette tapes with a pencil in the 90s, struggling to choose your MySpace song and Top 8 friends in the 00s or trying to figure out how streaming would work in the 2010s, these would've been your favourite hits! Included in the show are the "Wheel Of Ones" and "Millionaires Club Wheel" - the former picks any number one from the three decades that we must play (whether good or bad!), and the latter picks a million-selling hit to close off the show! You'll also have "Something New" - a brand new hit from an artist who was huge in the last three decades, plus the UK chart top 5 from a year gone by and "Redders Revisits" - because we can't remember EVERY song over these three decades, so we give love to those we've forgotten (or may not have ever even heard of)!
