Chris Johnson started listening to Beat Route Radio in April 2021 following a recommendation from a work colleague who ‘had a friend on the radio’. Before too long Chris was making guest appearances on Kully’s MadSpanner shows followed by the offer of her own Saturday show covering the 1970’s & 1980’s. Having a musically orientated family, Chris grew up with fond memories of house parties playing many music genres from Rock n Roll, Motown, Funk, Reggae, Ska, Rock through to more recent releases with a bit of Pop thrown in. Chris’s philosophy is that there is never a mood that music cannot represent, so let’s get the party started.

Join me. James Murray, for Saturday Tea Time with 2 hours of great music. In the first hour, it’s tunes picked by me but I would love to get your suggestions for 3 of a kind – just choose 3 songs which are connected in some way – you decide. I am also looking for your suggestions for our Back To The Future item where you suggest a track from the past which would sound just as fresh and original if it was released today. The second hour is where we count down our weekly chart, Now That’s What I Call A Top 40, the chart voted for by you. If you would like to get involved in the voting, just join. Facebook page Now That’s What I Call A Top 40 In Association With Beatroute Radio.

Dave Francis began in Community radio over 10 years ago. He presents the Jazz Funk & Soul Show on a Saturday night between 10 and midnight. Dave got into this genre after sneaking records out of his older Brothers record collection and playing them while he was out. Dave remembers being “Totally blown away” by what he heard and has been a fan ever since. Dave really likes Brit Funk, a British variation on Jazz Funk. “It’s a lot rawer than, and not as polished as its American Cousin. His favourite artists, include Hi Tension, Light of the World, Incognito and Level 42.
